ALL
CONTESTANTS WILL DO BATHING SUIT FIRST (OPTIONAL)
THEN FORMAL - STAY IN FORMAL FOR CROWNING.
***What
Should I Wear?
The
attire should be dressy. *For Children: Anything
from “Sunday Best”, to party, Formal or Pageant wear.
Any length.
*For Teen and Adults:
A nice dress, suit or outfit is fine.
This could include a Formal or
Pageant dress/gown.
Any length is fine.
If
you plan on changing, we will have a place for you
to keep attire.
*We will start with the Optional SwimWear
Category. If you are participating in the Optional
SwimWear Category, please change into your
Pageant attire when you have finished.
You will be “Crowned” and photographed
in your Pageant attire. *Remember - Have fun and wear what you like!
*We
advise arriving 1/2 an hour before the
Pageant to check in, pick up your Contestant
Number, etc. *Regarding hair and makeup: We advise arriving “basically ready”, so that you
don’t have to compete too much for time/space to
get ready with the other Contestants.
*We can’t accept any new registrations at
the door the day of the Pageant. Everyone must be pre-registered, at least by phone.
***Should
I Go “Natural” Or “Glitz”?
This
question pertains mostly to younger Contestants. The answer is the same as above – Anything goes!
The Judges come from a
variety of Pageant and other backgrounds.
They know that some contestants will be
very “glitzy”, some will be “natural”,
and that many will be first-timers.
They will judge each Contestant accordingly
- each on their own merit, based on how that
Contestant appears/how they carry themselves.
(Not how they or their dress compares to
the next Contestant.)
There is no one certain “look” the
Judges are looking for.
***Dressing
Rooms, Etc.
We
will have at least one “group dressing room”
for you to get ready in.
You will use the Mermaid Cottage!
The
changing room(s) will be guarded.
***Photogenic
Pictures
Pictures
will be available to be picked up after the
Pageant. Please patient. If
you win, we may ask if we can re-print the photo
in the newspaper, on our web site, etc.
***Interviews/Speaking
For
the Teens/Misses/Ms. and Mrs. Divisions, there
will be very simple “Interview Questions”
while onstage.
For the younger age divisions, no interview
is required.
***Photographs
And Video
We
must insist that during the Competition, no flash
photos be taken.
We also cannot allow video during the
Pageant. Press
and Media will be on hand televising and taking
photos.
Reasons
For No Flash And Video:
1. Flash cameras bother the Contestants’
eyes, especially children while on a stage
they’re unfamiliar with.
2. As this is a Pageant and the event
features several Contestants, we must try to
control use of any photos and/or video taken. Photos and video of the Pageant will be supplied to/by
television stations and newspapers.
3. When
flash photos are taken and create additional
“flashes of light”, the professional
photographer’s and the media’s photos and
videos can come out blank and the pictures of the
day are ruined for everyone.
